On June 12, SSAG held our career fair at the Singapore Embassy in Berlin. Welcoming Singaporean students and professionals from across Germany, the day saw insightful talks from Singaporeans across a range of sectors.
Following opening addresses from Ambassador Lee and our President Sylvia, we opened with a discussion panel with Mr Sean Chan of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr Dino Tan from the Singapore Economic Development Board. Our moderator Adrian posed questions on the diplomatic relationship between the Singapore and German governments, as well as the business ties between our countries.
🎓 Professor Lewis Chuang from Chemnitz University of Technology went on to share about his research and career in Germany, and provided invaluable advice to anybody interested in a career in academia.
🔬 Ms Ryanne Leong, former SSAG president and Divisional Controller at Rohde & Schwarz, then shared about her career in the tech industry in Germany, as well as the differences in working cultures between Singapore and Germany.
🎼 Ms Heather Tan, founder of Opera Asia and globe-trotting opera director, then shared about what it takes to build a career in the arts, and her experiences navigating the opera industry.
Throughout the day, our speakers fielded questions from our enthusiastic audience. All participants also enjoyed the opportunity to build deeper relationships during Q&As and the buffet lunch. The day was capped by drinks in the foyer, and dinner in the city center.
